Join our equity-based service model!

Connect the unconnected. Leave no one behind.

Hudumia is Swahili for “serve”.

We pride ourselves with our "equity-based service model" to ensure that every citizen get the right for meaningful broadband internet connectivity regardless of their income status.

Our 5G NR equipment is engineered for harsh, remote and constrained environments, and built for underserved and unserved communities across Africa and developing countries.

We design and build open-RAN radio units and lease them to licensed operators. We install, power and manage the radios; operators pay per radio per day on air and per gigabyte their customers use.

Licensed and dynamically shared spectrum, O-RAN ready. One radio, three RF cards: innovation spectrum for capacity (Kilimanjaro), TV white space for reach with n71 phones and modems (Pamoja, 617–694 MHz) and for long-range links across the whole TVWS band (Usawa, 470–694 MHz).
  • Kilimanjaro 5G NR

The radio unit with the n77 card: 3805–4195 MHz TDD in ISFR1 innovation spectrum, four transmit and four receive chains, O-RAN 7.2x. Capacity for villages, clinics and town centres.

  • Pamoja 5G NR

The same radio with the n71 card: 3GPP n71 FDD in the upper TV white space, 617–694 MHz. Long reach and good building penetration for sparse rural areas.

  • Usawa 5G NR

A TDD radio across the whole TV white space band, 470–694 MHz, for long-range point-to-point backhaul links and for connecting remote CPEs.

  • Outdoor CPE

A fixed outdoor receiver for homes, schools and farms, in n77 or n71, with an optional booster for distant sites.

  • Hudumia B&OSS Dashboard

One console for leases, spectrum grants, alarms, firmware and billing across every radio, CPE and phone on the network.

Frequently asked questions

What is Hudumia Africa?

Hudumia Africa is a brand of Online Open School of Africa. Hudumia is Swahili for “serve”. We design and build open-RAN 5G radio units and lease them to licensed operators; we install, power and manage the radios.

Which radio products do you offer?

Kilimanjaro 5G NR uses the n77 card: 3805–4195 MHz TDD in ISFR1 innovation spectrum. Pamoja 5G NR uses the n71 card: n71 FDD in the upper TV white space, 617–694 MHz. Usawa 5G NR is a TDD radio across the whole TV white space band, 470–694 MHz, for long-range point-to-point backhaul links and remote CPEs. An outdoor CPE (n77 or n71) serves homes, schools and farms.

What is the equity-based service model?

It is our commitment that every citizen should have meaningful broadband internet connectivity regardless of their income status. The radios are rented, not sold: operators pay per radio per day on air and per gigabyte their customers use.

In which countries does the network operate?

The network has sites in South Africa and Angola. Spectrum use in Angola is subject to INACOM authorisation.

Do I need a special phone or an app?

No app is needed. Current smartphones with n77 work on Kilimanjaro, and phones with n71 (mostly North-American variants today) work on Pamoja. A phone also needs a SIM or eSIM from the operator.

How do I contact support?

See the Contact Us tab for our e-mail and web addresses, or use the Customer care button for WhatsApp once its number is set up. Customers of an operator can also use the support contact on that operator's sign-in page.

Can an operator have its own sign-in page and address?

Yes. Each operator (tenant) can publish its own branded sign-in page at /t/<name>/login and on its own sub-domain, <name>.hudumia.earth.

Which languages are available?

English, Kiswahili, French, Portuguese and Afrikaans: choose one with the language selector. The translations are first drafts and are being reviewed by native speakers.
